Latin American and Caribbean Transport Working Group

The Latin American and Caribbean Transport Working Group seeks to reduce wildlife mortality through the development of more sustainable linear transport infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Grantee Profile

The Latin American and Caribbean Transport Working Group (LACTWG) was formed in 2019 by scientists and transportation practitioners to advance road ecology policy, planning, education, and research in Latin America and the Caribbean. Eight of the world’s hotspots for biodiversity and conservation are located in Latin America. A variety of transportation infrastructure projects in the region have been proposed that will expand into protected, conserved, and intact natural areas. LACTWG focuses on mitigating the impact of linear transportation infrastructure by researching and disseminating best practices in transportation infrastructure development. It offers replicable and tailorable workshops to participants and seeks to increase participation in science-based transportation infrastructure development that reduce impacts on ecological connectivity.

About Our Grants

In 2023, the Woodcock Foundation awarded LACTWG a three-year, $66,000 grant to support the LACTWG.
