Grantee Profile

The One for Democracy Fund began when a small group of philanthropists came together to pledge 1% of their net worth to foster a strong democracy and invest in overlooked local organizations. The Fund expands voter engagement and mobilizes communities in partnership with a broad network of grassroots organizations led by people of color. The leadership of the Fund is making strategic regranting decisions in 2020 by focusing on voter engagement in critical geographies and populations, addressing the impacts of COVID-19, and applying an inclusionary racial justice lens. The Fund is challenging foundations to take the One for Democracy 1% Pledge and invest a greater share of their assets in fighting for democracy.

About Our Grants

In 2022, the Woodcock Foundation made a $100,000 grant to the One for Democracy Fund to support 501(c)(3) activities, especially for work related to voter engagement and efforts to support democracy. In 2022, the Foundation also awarded a $10,000 general operating grant in response to inflation.
