Oweesta is a certified Native CDFI that has a 20+ year track record of providing the tools, training, and capital to help Native people control their economic destinies. Oweesta’s services provide resources for Native communities to create sustainable jobs, fund commercial real estate development, access affordable housing, and engage in sustainable farming, ranching, and fishing. Oweesta has been working to address “underbanked” Native communities by offering financial literacy training in a format that connects ancestral experiences with modern day financial management.

Highlights

In 2022, Oweesta created a Native CDFI Practitioner Certification Program that trains practitioners on activities specific to Native CDFIs and resources available only to Tribal nations. In its first year, the program has trained 281 participants.
