Grantee Profile

Life Pieces To Masterpieces (LPTM) provides opportunities for Black and Brown boys and young men, ages 3 to 25, to develop character and leadership, unlock potential, and transform their lives and communities, with creative expression and “each one teach one” mentoring at the core. Through comprehensive and age-appropriate teaching, mentoring, and guidance, LPTM’s “apprentices” are provided with opportunities to discover and activate their innate creative abilities and change their life challenges into possibilities.

By creating an intentional environment of love, security, and artistic expression, LPTM is uniquely successful in bringing these young men’s highest good and most authentic selves to the forefront.

Since 1996, LPTM Apprentices have created over 1,500 Masterpieces in LPTM’s signature artistic style of acrylic paints on sewn layers of canvas – and each Masterpiece is accompanied by a story in poetry or prose from its Apprentices’ lives.

About Our Grants

In 2024, the Woodcock Foundation awarded a three-year, $100,000 general operating grant to support LPTM’s efforts to use artistic expression to develop character and leadership, unlock potential, and prepare African American boys and young men to transform their lives and communities.
