Grantee Profile

Village of Wisdom works with black families to build their capacity to navigate and cope with racial bias and build community connections and advocacy skills. All of Village of Wisdom’s work is steeped in the racial socialization, racial identity development, critical race theory, and culturally responsive pedagogy. It provides parents, students, and teachers with tools to help them have more productive conversations about creating ideal learning environments for children of color. These tools include Black Genius Planning, Racial Stress Coping Plan, #VOW2Discuss Guide, and Culturally Affirming School Survey.

About Our Grants

In 2023, the Woodcock Foundation awarded a one-year $33,000 general operating grant to Village of Wisdom to support efforts to close the academic opportunity gap by protecting the intellectual curiosity and positive racial self-concept of Black children through the love and wisdom of their families and communities. In 2023, the Foundation also awarded a $7,500 grant to Village of Wisdom to support rebranding efforts.
